Many years ago there lived an Emperor who was so fond of new clothes that he spent all his money on them. He cared nothing about his soldiers, nor for the theatre, nor for driving about in the woods, except for the sake of showing off his new clothes... "But the Emperor has nothing on at all!" cried a little child. "Just listen to the innocent!" said the father; and one person whispered to another what the child had said. "At last the truth is spoken by a child!" sighed the people.
